Snow Day in London
All of London and the southeast of England woke this morning to a world blanketed in white—the largest snow in 20 years, and it’s still coming down in buckets! Global warming skeptics will undoubtedly use this rare weather event as proof that temperatures are not really rising, evidence that global warming is a hoax. But global warming is about average temperatures across earth, not about two days in February in southeast England. Local weather and global climate are not the same thing and this incident does not mean that average temperatures across the planet are not slowly and steadily rising. For more information about global warming, be sure to visit UK Aware in April.

It's so difficult to get that point across to ignorant people!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is not a unusual climate event. Is rare, but not unusual snowing in southeast England. Unusual climate event is snowing in Vitória, Brazil, in July (the coldiest month in the year. The coldiest day in my city ever registred was 7°C or 45°F in 1937. The last years the coldiest days is about 14°C or 57°F. Yesterday and today when the summers days in my city is very sunny and hot days, the temperature is about 30°C or 86°F during the day, but was registred 35°C or 95°F in the noon in last two days... this is normal. hahahahaha Global Warming in my city is a question that the scientists and politicians always discussing because if the level the Atlantic Sea to raise 30cm or 1 feet, probably the city will has a many troubles. 1 meter or 3 feet and 4 inches (i think this is the right value), great part of the city disappear under the sea... because my city is a island, part is covered by hills and another, the low part of the Vitória Island is a mangrove when the people was built almost all the constructions and lived there, except the hills, because there lived the poor people. It was a little commentary about this. Finally, London always seems me a beatiful city, especially when is snowing. Unfortanelly, no have snow days here, I think, I believe that in the past, in the last Ice Age, 11000 years ago, snowed in my tropical city hahahahaha
